Troubleshooting

When something doesn't sound the way it should.

No sound in the patch

Check the chain from left to right: is the device running (power green)? Is the source ACTIVE? Does a cable lead all the way to the output? A red dot on a track means: no incoming connection.

Driver stopped

If the badge reads “driver stopped”, a click reloads the audio system (briefly interrupts all system audio). If this happens after macOS updates, a one-time “Reinstall driver” in Settings fixes it.

Crackles or dropouts

Increase the IO buffer size by one step in Settings and restart the device (power off/on). With Bluetooth headphones, also increase the ring headroom.

Device missing after a dock change

NoicePatch tracks your setup across device changes automatically. If an output is still missing, check its card — a warning icon means “device currently not connected”; plug it back in and everything reconnects by itself.

Updates & contact

Check for updates: NoicePatch menu → “Check for Updates”. If nothing helps: info (at) starks.design — include your macOS version and a short description, a human answers.
